Back with more analogue. All images shot with my Nikon F3, 50mm f2 ai-s on SuperiaXtra 400 asa expired 2-2011. I used the DW-3 waist level finder. Nice slow down photography using this kind off focusing and i am happy with the results. It was difficult to get accurate focus but almost every shot was a hit, maybe because i really took the time for the composition end the focusing. Shots are all taken at The Gardens of Life in Teuge, The Netherlands. Enjoy!
Nikomat FT2 + Nikkor 50mm 1:2. This gear is a gift, a great gift. What a fun machine to work with. Also i am pleasantly surprised with the lens. If you have read my previous post about the F3, for the pictures and the feeling about these counts as the same. This is what i see around me and for me it’s fun to do, maybe it’s not that interesting for you as a reader, but as some info and performance of gear and film it might be usefull.
Techstuff: Nikomat FT2, Nikkor 50mm 1:2, Fuji Superia Xtra 400 asa expired 2-2012, Coolscan LS-40, Nikon San 4.03 12 bit default ice fine, Photoshop CC for color correction and some little tweaks like sharpening. Bordermaker was used for the white border and sig.
Well……My last analogue experience was bad, very bad. Yesterday scanned the last roll of film i filled. Used my Dad’s Olympus OM-1. The 100mm 1:2.8 should be a very nice piece of equipment. I made random shots over a longer period of time, so what i show here is random. What can i say, i am happy! The Superia 400 was expired for 1 year. As you can see no influence on quality yet. Next is testing the newly aquired 28mm 1:2.8 for the OM-1. Camera is ready, filled with Kodak Color Gold 200asa. Thinking about upgrading the 50mm 1.8 wich comes with the OM-1 to a 1.4 version. Not sure if i want to invest the money over the 1.8 wich is not that bad at all.
So i bought these Fuji Superia Xtra 800 asa from ”Marktplaats”. Expired 12-2002 but kept cold the seller told me. I filled my F100 with a roll last sunday and fitted my 50mm 1.8d. Off to Vaassen with my daughter to visit my Dad. In the Cannenburg forest there should be dwarfs(more to come later 😉 ). Well today went to the Hema to get the devoloped film and scanned it with my Coolscan ls-40 and finetuned them with Photoshop. This shot of my daughter is taken at home in natural light coming through the window, shot @ 1.8. I am not at all disappointed with this film wich seems to be in okay state. I love B&W edits for portraits so you get them both.
Got my hands on these for a more than fair price. It’s expired 12-2002 but has been kept cold during these times(they promised me). One way to find out is loading up the camera! These shots are made with the EP-1 and post processed using cameraraw and Photoshop. All taken under a small halogen desklight.
